What a Cutie Pie :)

I had the pleasure of spending time with this cutie on the University of Arizona campus on Saturday :)

She was as sweet as can be, which is quite fitting since her Mama is an awesome cake and cupcake baker!  Miss E was also a perfect little model while she explored the campus and tried to wear her mother and me out!
I think she barely noticed the camera with all the new things to explore and look at. . .
That was fine by me!  I like my clients to have fun, be comfortable and look natural.
I have a "no cheese" smiling policy!  You will never hear me tell a child to say "cheese!"
I much prefer making them laugh or waiting for the right moment.  Only real smiles, please!  :)

My goal for each session, is to capture true feelings and emotion. . .
whether it is quiet contentment, happiness, playful giggles, or whatever mood strikes at the moment :)

Thank you Miss E, for sharing your smiles and sense of adventure with me!

What Do I Do in My Free Time? Take pictures, of course! What did you think?

My session for this weekend rescheduled, so I thought I'd just post something. . .just for the sake of posting something!  :)   I promise you, this will not be anything groundbreaking.  :)  And if you are my friend on Facebook, you probably saw some or all of these before. . .

Since I started taking photography seriously, my world changed, and I look at everything so differently.   I am constantly scanning my surroundings for future photo opportunities!  You name it, I can find a neat spot to take a picture.

I love old buildings.  The more weathered they look, the better!  It gives them character.

I also love to capture interactions between people. . .the photo tells a story with just one moment frozen on film.  No posing.

Something I will never get tired of. . .taking photos of my daughter doing what she does each and every day. . .enjoying her life, exploring the world around her. . .and being a kid!

So, here are just a few examples from the hundreds (and hundreds and hundreds) of photos I took over the past month.

The first couple of photos were taken at the San Xavier Mission near Tucson.  My mom was visiting, so we took a drive out there.  Once we toured the place and stood in awe of the church's beauty, we started looking for different kinds of backdrops.  I handed her my camera a few times, so you actually get to see ME for once!  I am usually behind the camera, so some people probably question whether I really exist.  Well, here's proof, thanks to my mom!  :)

Historic buildings have some really neat photo backdrops!  These were my favorites from the Mission. . .

I love this photo.  The old window with the broken stairs leading up to it is just so beautiful!
I also love how the bright afternoon sun is illuminating my daughter's golden hair. . .

My mom eyed this neat backdrop.  I love the contrast of the red and the black against the white.  So glad I wore the perfect outfit for this setting!  I'm just missing a sprinkle of red.  Perhaps next time I will wear a red necklace or bracelet?  If I'm feeling really daring, I might even wear BOTH!  ha ha

This one is a two-for!  A unique backdrop AND a true loving moment between mother and daughter captured in this photo.  (thanks mom!)

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch. . .
Here's a fun photo of my lil' cowgirl having fun wranglin' in her backyard

Here's one of those truly warm moments captured between my daughter and my mom
while they were sitting at the piano

Last but not least. . .here's a photo I took with my PHONE camera
(yes, I use my phone camera.  But never on a photo session, don't worry! ha ha)
I had to make sure to preserve a classic moment.  My daughter and I were on our way to pick daddy up from work.  She insisted on wearing the Darth Vadar mask and brought along her red lightsabar, as well. . .because, you know, that is how EVERY little girl dresses to go get her daddy!
She made her daddy so proud, and made her mama (and a few people in the parking lot) laugh :)

Well, there you have it.  A couple of random photos from my life this past month. . .
I have LOTS of sessions coming up!  So stay tuned for some portrait sessions of beautiful families, cute kiddos, and other fun stuff!

Happy 6 months Miss E :)

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous 6 month old baby girl last Saturday.
She was such a delight!
We photographed overlooking the golf course, and I am pretty sure when she is able to talk, she will ask her parents for a golf cart.
She was REALLY eyeing those golf carts as they sped past our cozy area on the grass, where Miss E was doing an awesome job posing for photos :)

Miss E made my job easy and enjoyable!
Here's a sneak peek at some of the photos. . .
there are so many more!
I wish I could post them all!  But this gives you an idea what our photo session was like.  Enjoy!

A special Easter present :)

Playful hands

Doing her balancing act.  Impressive!

There was just *a little* wind that day  :)

Those adorable shoes were good enough to eat!
